There are 2 main types of PVP and they are.

Structured PVP where you and your team will attempt to capture points on a map while fighting an enemy team.

WvW PVP – This is where your entire server is matched against 2 other servers to battle for control of the maps in the game.

In WvW (World vs World) there are 3 maps that you can queue for which are one for each server playing against each other and the Eternal Battleground.

Your goal is to control as many objectives as you can on the map to make sure your team is scoring points.

Of course the more objectives that you control the more points you get and the more bonuses your world/server will get. On the WvW battlefronts your stats will be boosted to level 80.

The main gameplay is attacking or defending to complete an objective for the team and once it is complete a new objective will start. There are also tools that you can use to make it easier to capture areas on the map such as battering rams that attackers can set up to attack and likewise defenders can use burning oils to protect a gate for instance.

You can take part in structured PVP by the menu “Heart of the Mists” and you will be boosted to level 80 for the battlefront and given some standard PVP gear.

The main thing you want to do here is keep on winning and you will be rewarded with Glory – which is a currency that you can use with the vendors to get some better PVP gear.
