One of the main things that it is good to know about the Elementalist is that it is one of the only classes in GW2 where you can only use one weapon at a time.

One of the best weapons that you can pick if you are just starting out is the staff and the main reason for that is because it gives you a decent distance and also excellent AoE skills as well.

It also gives you an awesome amount of survivability and from our testing this weapon beats all of the others available to the Elementalist in that regard.

One of the downsides with the Elementalist is that you are quite “squishy” meaning that you don’t have a HUGE amount of health to play with. So you will want to try and keep as much distance as you can between you and the enemy.

Also another thing that you need to know with the Elementalist is the attunements.

You will have Earth, Air, Fire and Water attunements and you will get 5 skills connected with each one.

Fire: Focuses on damage and burning.

Water: Support and healing.

Air: Damage and controlling abilities like blinds and dazes.

Earth: Survivability and dame over time skills.

For leveling we recommend using the skills that are in Fire and Air most of the time.

If you are in an event or boss you can swap over to Water to help your group out.
